电影《小说》原名《诗意的年代》。1999年，王朔、阿城、方方、余华、赵玫、陈村、林白、马原等国内最著名的作家齐聚郫县一家宾馆开笔会，讨论“这个年代还有没有诗意”。这个讨论过程就成了电影的纪录片部分，另外，影片中还有风格完全不同的剧情片部分，描写王志文、王彤扮演的初恋情人在笔会上偶遇，旧情复燃。遗憾的是，该片由于内容晦涩，形式过于追求新锐，一直未能通过审查。导演吕乐昨日接受记者采访时表示，其实影片从来就没有被禁，随着审查尺度的逐渐放开，影片只改了个名字就顺利通过审查，近期将与观众见面。
